The Urdu language holds a special place when it comes to poetry. I still remember the sounding of words which I learnt in childhood during summer holidays, though I couldn’t continue to learn, but those nuances stayed with me and developed interest to learn, read and explore poetry in my own form of writing in Hindi script.
Reading or writing poetry in Urdu is a trance.

Apnā khayāl rakhnā…
Tabī’at ṭhīk nahīñ hai kya?
Āvāz bahut dhīre se ā rahī hai.
Bahut din ho gaye the bāt sune,
Sochā ke kām meñ maśrūf ho.
Din badalte gaye,
Kuch khabar nahīñ ā’ī,
Sochā ke bhūl gaye ho tum.
Hum to itne hī samajhdār haiñ!
Apnā khayāl rakhnā…
Yeh main tumse kahūñ, yā
Apne āp se? Dono ek hī toh haiñ.
